Patients with myasthenia gravis (MG) can expect specialized treatment programs that offer reliable prescription delivery, education and support. Like many chronic conditions, proper management of MG is key to living a full life. We understand the unique needs of patients living with this chronic autoimmune neuromuscular disorder and the challenges of muscle weakness and fatigue. That’s why we stay in constant communication, monitoring, listening and coordinating with all members of the care team. Patients are never alone, with 24/7 access to clinical experts who answer questions, monitor side effects and coordinate on-time delivery of treatments. With Diplomat, caregivers can have peace of mind knowing patients are taken care of.

Myasthenia Gravis

One of the first steps after a myasthenia gravis (MG) diagnosis is understanding the condition. The information on this site and linked sites is not meant to replace your physician’s advice, medical care or a diagnosis. If you have questions about your disease, please ask your prescriber.

Overview

Myasthenia gravis is an autoimmune disorder that causes weaknesses in the skeletal muscles (those used for movement). While many autoimmune disorders attack the arms and legs, MG predominantly affects facial muscles. Symptoms include eyelid drooping and difficulty breathing and controlling facial expressions. Physical activity might exacerbate MG symptoms. It is critical, therefore, for patients to get adequate rest and avoid physical exertion.

While there is no cure for MG, treatment options exist to help patients control symptoms by reducing muscle weakness. It might even be possible for patients to go into temporary remission.
