FLINT, Mich. — Dec. 6, 2013 — Flint’s Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is launching a new interactive website, Flinttown.com, this Saturday, December 7, 2013, with a launch party and pub crawl. The 2 p.m. party, complete with a demonstration of the new website, will be held at Blackstone’s Pub on Saginaw Street immediately following the DDA’s 5th Annual Holiday Parade.

Gerard Burnash, Director of the DDA, said this year’s holiday festivities will be bigger than ever. Saturday’s events will kick off with the YMCA’s Santa Run at noon, followed by the Holiday Parade at 1 p.m. The parade will spread holiday cheer along Saginaw Street, with the route starting at 2nd avenue and ending at 4th street. Blackstone’s Pub will be hosting a parade viewing party where Santa Run participants aged 21 and over will be treated to a free beer.

Flinttown.com was designed and created by the Diplomat IT and Marketing department with collaboration from the DDA, the Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce and the City of Flint. The goal was to create one website that would be all-inclusive for activities, events, dining and fun in downtown Flint.

Flinttown.com is designed for desktop and mobile users and grants easy access to what is happening in downtown Flint,” Burnash said. “From festivals and events to the best deals on dining and drinks, we believe it will provide the best opportunity to experience Flint with more information and insight than ever before. It is an outstanding way to get the 810 in the palm of your hand, so you always know what’s up downtown.”

Diplomat CEO Phil Hagerman said he wanted to help the DDA promote the entertainment options available in downtown Flint. After finding that there was not a singular source to learn about the various events and businesses downtown, Hagerman challenged his IT and Marketing team to create a website that does just that.

“The Diplomat team is happy to help promote all the exciting entertainment opportunities in downtown Flint,” Hagerman said. “I believe this will help all of us to better understand the energy and dynamics occurring in our community. This website links users to all of downtown Flint with just the click of a mouse. It’s just one more opportunity for us to find innovative ways to help revitalize our community.”
