FLINT, Mich. — Aug. 4, 2014 — Diplomat, the nation’s largest independent specialty pharmacy, has been named one of Michigan’s economic bright spots by CORP! magazine, a statewide business publication that sought out companies who are a driving force in the state’s economy.

Diplomat was honored on June 12, along with 50 other Michigan businesses, at the CORP! 2014 Michigan Economic Bright Spot awards ceremony in Livonia. Abigail Bearman, marketing copywriter, accepted the award on Diplomat’s behalf.

Diplomat has also taken the lead on community and private/public partnership initiatives that aid in rebuilding Flint, including the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s Community Ventures program and the Diplomat Mile Marker Challenge with the Flint-based Crim Fitness Foundation. In the summer of 2014, Diplomat hired 10 social impact college fellows to address a variety of urban challenges in Flint, including homelessness prevention, youth empowerment, crowd-funding for social entrepreneurs, and sickle cell medication adherence in young children.
