Diplomat expands hemophilia specialty services with acquisition of American Homecare Federation
Flint, Mich. –Jan. 13, 2014 — Diplomat, the country’s largest independent specialty pharmacy, announced today it has acquired American Homecare Federation (AHF), Inc. AHF is an Enfield, Conn.-based provider of hemophilia pharmacy services serving the homecare needs of the bleeding disorders community throughout the U.S. The announcement was made by Diplomat CEO and co-founder, Phil Hagerman, R.Ph.
“Diplomat is pleased to expand our footprint in the hemophilia specialty space with the acquisition of AHF, which has an outstanding reputation for serving the hemophilia community and complements Diplomat’s philosophy to ‘take good care of patients and the rest falls into place’,” said Hagerman. “The AHF purchase also establishes Diplomat’s physical presence in the northeast and allows for future expansion opportunities in that region.”
Hetty Lima, R.Ph., FASHP, vice president of specialty infusion and rare diseases for Diplomat and the mother of a son with a severe bleeding disorder, affirmed Diplomat’s commitment to serving patients and families with hemophilia.
“Diplomat has an industry-leading hemophilia care management program and the addition of AHF further underscores our commitment to the hemophilia community,” said Lima, a long-term veteran of the hemophilia specialty pharmacy industry. “It is important for the community to know this acquisition enhances the ability of both organizations to meaningfully care for those with bleeding disorders.”
Adam Oliveri, AHF general manager and national sales manager, is pleased to partner with Diplomat to continue AHF’s 25 year history as the leading provider of hemophilia products and support in the northeast.

Mark Zatyrka, who lives with hemophilia and is the nephew of AHF founder Donald Colburn, serves as AHF’s director of marketing.

Financial details of Diplomat’s acquisition of AHF are confidential. Bison Group, LLC acted as financial advisor to Diplomat on the transaction.
