Simplifying Therapy for Multifocal Motor Neuropathy
Diplomat Specialty Infusion Group supports patients throughout treatment.MMN causes your muscles to become weaker. It usually affects the arms and legs, although any muscle can be affected. Left untreated, the weakness slowly gets worse.
It’s not clear what causes MMN. One theory is that the patient’s own immune system attacks the patient’s nerves.
MMN is often mistaken for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, also called Lou Gehrig’s disease). But unlike ALS, MMN doesn’t affect the brain or spinal cord, and it is treatable.
Usually, people are diagnosed with MMN by age 45. Men are three times more likely than women to have it.
MMN is not a life-threatening condition, and treatment will slow it down considerably. People who have MMN can live active and full lives.

What are the symptoms of multifocal motor neuropathy?

- Cramping
- Muscles that contract on their own
- A loss of muscle mass
The symptoms are often different on the left and right sides of the body.

How does Diplomat help people with multifocal motor neuropathy?
MMN can be treated with drugs that suppress the immune system. It can also be treated with intravenous immune globulin (IVIG) therapy, which puts new antibodies into the body to help get rid of the ones that are attacking nerves. Most patients on IVIG treatment find that their symptoms improve quickly, but they might have to keep taking it regularly to maintain that improvement.
Diplomat Specialty Infusion Group dispenses IVIG treatment for people who have MMN. We support you throughout your treatment, helping you find third-party financial assistance and educating you about your condition.
