Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy to Present Case Studies at National Forums

14 February 07

Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy today announced that members of their executive team are featured speakers at two upcoming national forums. On March 13, Phil Hagerman, President and CEO; and Ron Alexander, Vice President of Clinical Services will speak in Las Vegas at the Improving Care Management Through Medication Therapy Management Conference. Hagerman and Alexander will present a case study titled, “Medication Therapy Management in a Commercial Population.”

Diplomat Health Services (A Division of Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy) and McLaren Health Plan with the support of the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan have launched a comprehensive disease management (DM) and medication therapy management (MTM) for eligible health plan members residing in Michigan. The program targets Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) including the co- morbid conditions of hypertension and diabetes.

The joint presentation in Las Vegas details key components of the CKD program including patient identification, management and treatment protocols, as well as medical and pharmaceutical interventions including: education, consultation and medication compliance-packaging services. More information

On April 24, Hagerman is also a featured speaker at CBI’s 6th Annual Forum on Patient Compliance, Adherence and Persistency. Hagerman’s presentation is a case study titled, “Create a Systemic Approach to Improve Patient Outcomes.” The study shows that winning the battle to improve patient outcomes through persistency, compliance and adherence mandates that a systemic approach (physicians, pharmaceutical manufacturers, pharmacists, managed care, health plans and patients) utilize existing tools, create unique methods and follow algorithms specific to a particular disease management/patient population. Examples are given in specific disease state/real life situations including: how specific tools can increase the use of binders up to 30% in the dialysis population; how the use of follow up tools can attain 90% compliance for RA and Dermatology patients; how building oncology drug specific therapy processes reaches clinical trial efficacy; and, how to prevent non-compliance in HIV patients and decrease annual costs of $20K per year/per patient.

This forum will be held in Philadelphia, PA – More information
